Ross Jones has been interested in old muskets and firearms since he saw Walt Disney’s movie about Davy Crockett when he was 5 years old. He has been collecting for over 50 years, ranging from Winchester rifles to Civil War carbines. He is very interested in the weapons of the French and Indian War, the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, however his main area of expertise is in Canadian and American weapons used during the Fenian Raids of 1866 and 1870. Ross has been an auxiliary game warden, a gun safety instructor, has participated in historic re-enactments and is a member of the Canadian Black Powder Association. He consults with local heritage organizations regarding the care and identification of firearms in their collections and he builds and restores flintlock rifles and muskets.
