A Crowdfunding Success Story!

The National Trust for Canada congratulates the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre, the first project team to complete a crowdfunding campaign on the National Trust's new crowdfunding platform – THIS PLACE MATTERS. The group raised $8,650.00 for their project Raising a Barn, which will help them bring to life the story of the Gatineau Valley’s 19th-century pioneer settlers.

Raising a Barn is one of many exciting heritage projects raising funds through www.thisplacematters.ca. Mounting a crowdfunding campaign is an excellent way to expand an organization’s network of supporters, embrace the power of social media and reach fundraising goals. But, it also takes creativity and a lot of hard work. We congratulate all the project teams for their efforts!

The National Trust also thanks RBC for contributing $25,000 in matching funds, helping to kick-start many of these exciting projects. Already, over $58,000 has been raised to help save places that matter!

You can help fund these great heritage places. Campaigns continue through the holidays and into the New Year, so check back often!

You can also start your own crowdfunding campaign and access helpful tools and resources, like our Project Success Kit and our first THIS PLACE MATTERS webinar to help you get started. Check them out on our resources page!
