larger_gala_c._de_commerce.jpgThe Chamber of Commerce of the MRC de Bonaventure handed out its 2011 awards on November 12 at a gala recognition event in New Richmond. The evening attracted 280 attendees who were wined, dined and entertained in style. Speeches were made and awards presented to the various groups and individuals who distinguished themselves in the categories of rural initiative, young enterprise, industry, fabrication / innovation, tourism, and others.

Among the organizations being honoured was Heritage New Carlisle (in the category rural initiative as a non-profit organization) for that group's efforts in developing the Kempffer Cultural and Interpretation Centre in New Carlisle.

Manon Cyr, president of Heritage New Carlisle, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. Cyr congratulated all of the nominees and said that "it is always a group effort as committee members continue to work tirelessly with a passion we all share."

Cyr also thanked Heritage New Carlisle's founding president Normand Desjardins for his lead role in getting the organization (and its Kempffer House) off the ground.
