Landmark Federal Report Recommends Tax Credits for Heritage Buildings

A report has just been released by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development. The report, titled "Preserving Canada's Heritage: The Foundation for Tomorrow," includes a list of 17 recommendations to the House of Commons and the Government of Canada. One of the most significant of the recommendations is Number 9 which urges the federal government to "establish a tax credit for the restoration and preservation of buildings listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places."

As of this date, the government has 120 days to respond to the report.
