Think you’ll be missing the St. Patrick’s festivities again this year? This March, the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) is teaming up with several of our partners across the province to bring you a trio of events celebrating Quebec’s diverse Irish heritage.

With the Valcartier Historical Committee, Shannon Catholic Women’s League, and Voice of English-speaking Quebec, we are featuring two online viewing parties on Facebook celebrating the rich musical heritage in the communities along the Jacques Cartier river north of Quebec City. On Saturday, March 13 at 7 p.m., we will be airing archival footage from the 50th Shannon Irish Show that took place in 2016.

On Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m., join Fergus Keyes of the Montreal Irish Monument Park Foundation for his online talk “Meet Your Irish Neighbours: Irish-Quebecers Who Made a Difference.” This talk is part of QAHN’s 2021 Heritage Talks series. Fergus will highlight the contributions of Irish Quebecers across the province in politics, medicine, and the arts.

Then, on Saturday, March 20 at 7 p.m., we will be premiering Valcartier filmmaker and heritage worker Allison Kirkwood’s new video documentary Echoes of a Fine-Tuned Valley: Musical Memories from the Jacques-Cartier Region.

If you miss out on any of these events, the videos will all be archived for later viewing on QAHN's Facebook page.
