Lovisa Gates Stanton received this sugar bowl when, at the age of 16, she married Captain William Stanton of Preston, Connecticut. Along with her family Lovisa came to Missisquoi County in 1807 and settled in Stanbridge East. She was 96 years old when she died and was survived by 10 children.
