Earle's Farm Implements. This frame structure is now called "Place 1870" to remind us of the year it was built. Three generations of the enterprising Earle family occupied the building selling farm implements, plumbing and hardware supplies. Until the mid-1900s, there was a theatre on the second floor and a meeting room for town council meetings. Over its 140 years in this busy commercial part of the village this building has played many and varied roles in the life of the community. It is now owned by the Purcell family and they lease spaces in it for an Irish-style pub, a gift shop and an artist's studio. (Photo - Anita Rutledge)
