Sociology of migration, ethnicity, racism and difference. Primary research focus is the Syrian immigrant experience in Montreal, Quebec and Canada (esp. 1880s-1930s) covering topics such as the politics of entry and residency, naturalization and identity, economic life and urban spatial practices. This experience is the object of a manuscript currently in progress. Early 2000s, curated the exhibit “Min Zamaan: the Syrian-Lebanese presence in Montreal 1880s-1930s” presented at the Centre d’Histoire de Montréal.
