Hamilton Manor.Established in 1852, the Hamilton Manor is the only example of Palladian architecture in the Gaspésie, proudly echoing the influence of Andrea Palladio, the renowned Italian Renaissance architect. Located in New Carlisle, what was once know as Hamilton House is now a four-star bed and breakfast, offering a wide array of special activities and delicious meals, the Manor is a multi-functional centre in a beautiful historic setting which will appeal to any visitor.

Built by John Robinson Hamilton, Queen’s Council and Bonaventure County Deputy in the Lower Canada Assembly from 1841 to 1844, this neo-classical English manor house was constructed in a style very unusual for Québec. The four chimneys and eight fireplaces add to the building’s heritage value. The kitchen still boasts a traditional bread oven and the original hearth complete with trammel.

A tour of the Hamilton Manor will transport you directly to the 19th century when the Gaspésie was prime Loyalist territory. Its every room is filled with period furniture, carpets, old books, paintings and dishes in true 19th century style.

Special Activities: Les Quat ‘zarts Art Gallery featuring visual art and fine crafts exhibits. Intimate Theatre offers repertory and classic films on a large screen, live performances with musicians, singers, storytellers, historians and poets.
