Created in 1954 from the Catholic Séminaire St-Charles Borromée, the French-language Université de Sherbrooke was at first a three-faculty university granting degrees in law, arts, and science.
Known today for its broad range of programmes in nine faculties and a school of music, the Université de Sherbrooke grants undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in administration, medicine, arts, law, education, music, physical education/sports, engineering, human sciences, theology, ethics, philosophy, and science.
Attracting over 20,000 students annually from all across Quebec, Canada, and overseas, the university is highly regarded in Canada for its level of research funding. It is also known for its sports and cultural facilities.
