Yesterday's launch of QAHN's 2025 series of five short documentary films, collectively called "Raising Spirits: Exploring the Cemeteries, Crossroads and Vanishing Places of Rural Quebec." The event, which took place at the Chalet Bellevue in Morin Heights, with assistance and refreshments provided by the Morin Heights Historical Association, drew an enthusiastic crowd of well over a hundred.
In the words of one viewer, "The films were top notch - so informing, moving, professional. The event was engaging and well put together. All in all, you knocked it out of the park!"
Five films in the new series were screened, featuring some fascinating forgotten histories about places in this part of the Laurentians: Britonville; Scotch Road (north of Grenville); Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts; and Shrewsbury.
Special guests featured in these films included: Sandra Stock; Ilene Geringer-Smith; Joe Graham; Don Stewart; and Cecil McPhee, all connoisseurs of local history and lore.
All five of these new films will be made available on QAHN's Youtube channel in the coming weeks.
