medium_granada_0.jpgOpened in 1929 at the dawn of the talking movie, the Granada Theatre in downtown Sherbrooke is one of Canada’s most beautiful atmospheric theatres. With its sumptuous interior decorated with tromp l’oeil Mediterranean scenes, it was a popular venue for both movies and live entertainment.

Closed in the 1980s, the Granada eventually became the property of the City of Sherbrooke, and has since been restored to its former grandeur.

At the time this photo was taken, c.1929, a silent movie, Jazz Mad, was playing.
