This fall we have been sharing short selfie videos to introduce you to some of the inspiring people who make up our network. This week, we head to West Quebec to meet with Wes Darou, an enthusiastic speaker, author, and volunteer.

Joseph W Graham, best-selling author of Naming the Laurentians, announces the imminent launch of his new book Insatiable Hunger: Colonial Encounters in Context, the product of 12 years of research on contact between Christian European settlers and the Indigenous populations of the Americas, and the period of proselytization, trade, disease, and war between the early 16th and early 19th century. It is a work that offers new insight into the truth needed to achieve reconciliation.

Considering that at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN), held on September 12, 2021, the Board discussed at length the Government of Canada’s proposal to modernize the Official Languages Act;

RE: Quebec’s Bill 96
At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN), held on September 12, 2021, the Board discussed at length the Government of Quebec’s proposed Bill 96 (An Act respecting French, the official and common language of Québec).
Considering that the English-language minority community of Quebec has a long history of distinguished contributions to all facets of Quebec society;

For the second year in a row, the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) will partner with local cultural organizations to support museum and heritage activities that explore the history of Quebec’s diverse English-speaking communities.
The Belonging and Identity in English Quebec initiative is funded by Quebec's SRQEA and will enable QAHN to provide mentorship and grants of up to $5,000 to 11 different communities.

“BELONGING & IDENTITY”
In 2020-2021, QAHN undertook an innovative project called “Belonging & Identity.” Funded in part by Quebec’s Secretariat for Relations with English-speaking Quebecers, and with the participation of Concordia University, this project enabled QAHN to lend valuable financial, communications, and logistical support to 10 local heritage organizations in 5 regions of the province. We are happy to report that this project has been renewed for 2021-2022!
