Camp Otoreke (YMCA Camp), Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, 1944. Old photographic postcard.

The message on the back reads:
"Camp Otoreke. 3 August '44. I am having a grand time here. This is a picture of our new lodge. We eat upstairs, also have parties there. Downstairs are the shower and changing rooms. The weather so far has been perfect. We went on a 15 mile paddle yesterday for a swim in the falls and a picnic supper...
Love Betty."

History (courtesy of the Concordia University Archives):
Located near the village of Ste. Adolphe de Howard, Camp Otoreke was built on the site of the original Montreal YMCA summer camp (Camp Jubilee) that began operation in 1893. It consisted of several islands plus a landing area on the mainland. After the Y's main camping program moved to Kamp Kanawana in 1910, Otoreke operated variously as a camp for men over 18, for women and men over 18, for married couples, and for low-income families. It was sold in 1987.
