During the 1866 Fenian Raid, Margaret Vincent, an elderly woman, was accidentally shot by the Royal Welsh Fusiliers who had arrived to defend the border. Margaret's stone at one time told the story of this shocking event, and although the Pigeon Hill Cemetery is well maintained, no attention was paid to the Vincent gravestone over the years. Her stone is now almost illegible. (Photo - Missisquoi Historical Society Collections)
