(Sherbrooke, June 25, 2025) – The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) is delighted to annouce that Edward Pedersen has been selected as a recipient of its 2025 Marion Phelps Award. This award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding long-term contributions by an individual to the preservation and promotion of Anglophone heritage in the province of Quebec.
Edward Pedersen is a long-time volunteer with the board of the Bury Historical and Heritage Society, organizing local events, and writing many historical articles and even a cookbooklet on the Eastern Townships. He served on the executive and was instrumental in organizing most events and activities presented by the society during his tenure on the board between 2015 and 2023, when he served as president, before moving on to fill the positions of secretary and treasurer.
One of Edward’s most important contributions, which began in 2015, was overseeing the purchase and restoration of Christchurch Canterbury. This project involved a fundraising campaign with a concert, art shows, farmers’ market, and other activities that have since become annual events. Edward Pedersen is still an active member of the Centre Canterbury Center.
Ever-generous with his time and abundant in his energy, Edward continues to play an integral role in preserving and promoting the history and heritage of Bury, and inspiring others to continue the tradition. “He is the glue that helps keep our English community strong, alive and connected through the many events he organizes,” says Rebecca MacMillan of Bury, one of his nominators.
Edward Pedersen is among this year’s five volunteer recognition award winners selected in honour of QAHN’s 25th anniversary year, and in recognition of their contributions to the preservation and promotion of Anglophone heritage across Quebec.
