--Sherbrooke, Qc., April 17, 2025 – The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) is proud to announce five winners of its 2025 volunteer recognition awards in honour of its 25th anniversary year.
These awards are presented to an individual or to a group or organization in recognition of long-term contributions to the preservation and promotion of Anglophone heritage in the province of Quebec. This year, QAHN has added a special award to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of young volunteers.
2025 Marion Phelps Award Winners
QAHN has chosen two recipients this year for its coveted Marion Phelps Award, which recognizes the contributions of individual heritage volunteers. Edward Pedersen is a long-time volunteer with the board of the Bury Historical and Heritage Society, organizing local events, and writing many historical articles and even a cookbooklet on the Eastern Townships.
Dr. Ross Higgins is the co-founder and former president of the Archives gaies du Québec and an archivist, historian and teacher, with many publications on Quebec queer history in Canada.
2025 Richard Evans Award Winner
QAHN has selected the Townships Sun as this year’s recipient of the Richard Evans Award, which recognizes the contributions of a group or organization. The many dedicated volunteers behind the Townships Sun have enabled this venerable institution to publish stories about life in the Eastern Townships for 50 years.
QAHN Special Young Volunteer Award Winners
For its 25th anniversary, QAHN has created a special award to recognize the outstanding volunteer contributions of two young people. Bryan McGaw and Jacob Coleman are each recipients of a Young Volunteer Award for outstanding volunteer contributions to the Vimy Foundation and the Canadian Centre for the Great War. Bryan and Jacob have undertaken translation, research, collection care, photography, and testing digital products.
Once again, QAHN will be hosting an awards ceremony to formally recognize this year’s volunteer recipients. This event will take place at the magnificent Louis-Joseph Forget in Montreal on June 21, 2025. Watch QAHN’s web site and Facebook page for more details.
