Results of QAHN’s 2026 Heritage Essay and Heritage Photo Contests

QAHN’s long-running Heritage Essay Contest for elementary school students and Heritage Photo Contest for high school students concluded at the end of April 2026. Students from 8 elementary schools (Shawinigan; Terry Fox; Drummondville; Netagamiou; Gardenview; Parkdale; Waterloo; and Gault Institute) and 6 high schools (John F. Kennedy; Châteauguay Valley; Dr. Wilbert Keon; Galt; Rosemere; and Marymount) located in seven regions of the province participated in these activities this year. 

The winners were presented with awards in June (certificates and prize money for the top 3 in each contest; certificates for the runners-up). All winning submissions will be published in the Fall 2026 edition of Quebec Heritage News, QAHN’s quarterly magazine.

The 1st Prize winner in this year’s Heritage Photo Contest was Esmé Anoia, a student at Rosemere High. 2nd Prize went to Julian Cammisano, also of Rosemere. 3rd Prize went to Kaysen Stone of Dr. Wilbert Keon School in Chapeau. Honourable Mentions went to Travis Keon (Dr. Wilbert Keon School) and Esmé Anoia (Rosemere).

For a second year in a row, 1st Prize in the Heritage Essay Contest went to Blair Mansbridge of Netagamiou School in Chevery, on Quebec’s Lower North Shore. 2nd Prize went to Ayyah Bell of Parkdale Elementary (Saint-Laurent), while 3rd Prize went to Louise Legault of Shawinigan High School. Honourable Mentions went to four students: Sreeshaan Reddy Panyala of Parkdale; Maya Kaur Dhaliwal of the Gault Institute (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield); Philip Amadon Rousseau (Drummondville Elementary); and Niko Roy Beauregard (Waterloo Elementary).
