This past weekend, the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) held its annual heritage volunteer awards ceremony. About 70 people joined the celebration at the historic Maison Saint-Gabriel in Montreal's Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood. 

This past year QAHN partnered with the non-profit Éducaloi to help heritage and community organizations navigate the rules and regulations connected to Quebec's language laws.

Quebec’s language laws can feel complex, especially with recent changes to the Charter of the French Language. Whether you’re wondering if exceptions apply to “historic Anglophones”, what happens when a French and English version of a document don’t say the same thing, or what the consequences are for not following the rules, this FAQ breaks down the essentials.

QAHN’s long-running Heritage Essay Contest for elementary school students and Heritage Photo Contest for high school students concluded at the end of April 2026. Students from 8 elementary schools (Shawinigan; Terry Fox; Drummondville; Netagamiou; Gardenview; Parkdale; Waterloo; and Gault Institute) and 6 high schools (John F. Kennedy; Châteauguay Valley; Dr. Wilbert Keon; Galt; Rosemere; and Marymount) located in seven regions of the province participated in these activities this year.
