The SHOMI database contains oral history collections from museums, historical societies, community organizations and research institutes across Quebec. Audio files in the database are annotated and search tools in the database allow users to easily locate audio files related to their interests.
This database uses the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling's Stories Matter software. To access the database, please view the screen casts for detailed instructions about downloading and using the Stories Matters database. You will need to input the server URL and "Login as Guest."

The Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling serves as a point of convergence for collaborative digital historical research, teaching, and publishing among faculty and students at Concordia, as well as members of local, national and international communities.
Colby-Curtis Museum – Stanstead Historical Society
The Colby-Curtis Museum and Stanstead Historical Society Archives are housed in an imposing granite house built in 1859 by the Colbys, a prominent local family of American descent. Permanent displays relate to the lifestyle of the house’s former occupants, while temporary exhibits pertain to regional history.
Committee for Anglophone Social Action
The Committee for Anglophone Social Action, is a community organization dedicated to serving the English-speaking population of the Gaspé Coast. The organization works to address the needs of the English-speaking communities in the areas of health and social services, education, culture and heritage.
Compton County Historical Museum Society
The Compton Country Historical Museum Society maintains collections and archival materials donated by local families and organizations. The Society also coordinates projects and educational events which are related to its mission to promote, pursue and encourage the study of the history of Compton and the surrounding townships.
Council for Anglophone Magdalen Islanders
The Council for Anglophone Magdalen Islanders promotes the culture and heritage of the English-speaking communities of the Magdalen Islands. The Council also advocates on behalf of the English-speaking communities' identified needs and supports these needs through projects and community activities.
Eastern Townships Resource Centre
The Eastern Townships Resource Centre promotes the study of the Eastern Townships with a special focus on the English-speaking communities in the region. The Centre publishes the Journal of the Eastern Townships Studies, coordinates conferences and speaker forums, preserves archival collections and organizes exhibitions.
Gatineau Valley Historical Society
The Gatineau Valley Historical Society promotes the history and heritage of the Gatineau Valley region. The Society publishes a yearly journal titled Up the Gatineau! and maintains an archive documenting the history of the Gatineau Valley.
Greenwood Centre for Living History
The Greenwood Centre for Living History is a community-based organization that seeks to preserve and capture the history of Greenwood, the Hudson area and the region. The organization manages the Greenwood historical house, offers guided tours of the house and gardens, delivers workshops and community events, and maintains a permanent exhibit related to the house's former residents.
Hemmingford Historical Archives
The Hemmingford Historical Archives organization is dedicated to preserving and sharing the historical heritage of Hemmingford, Quebec. The organization manages the preservation and growth of the archive which includes documentation such as census, cemetery, maps and land records, as well as information on family histories, letters, business ledgers and a large collection of photographs.
Hudson Historical Society
The Hudson Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Hudson and the surrounding area and the legacy of local residents. The Society maintains an archive of manuscripts, articles, books, audiotapes and photographs related to the families, homes and businesses in the area.
Morin Heights Historical Association
The Morin Heights Historical Association's mission is to inform and involve the community in the awareness and preservation of all aspects of the region's natural and built heritage. The Association publishes a magazine titled The Porcupine, hosts exhibits and organizes community events.
Missisquoi Museum – Missisquoi Historical Society
The Missisquoi Museum, housed in an 1830 grist mill, features exhibitions and educational programmes which explore the individuals and events that contributed to the colourful history of Missisquoi County. The Museum is operated by the Missisquoi Historical Society which also manages the Hodge's General Store and the twelve-sided Walbridge barn.
