Not far from Plaisance, along Route 148, is Parc national de Plaisance (Plaisance Provincial Park). With its 28 square kilometres of islands, peninsulas, and marshes along the Ottawa River, the park is home to a stunning variety of flora and fauna. It is a particularly good spot for bird-watching, with over 230 species of birds recorded within its limits over the course of a year, including ducks, herons, ospreys, and many others. 
In the spring, a hundred thousand migrating Canada geese stop in the park on their way north. In the early summer, three species of turtles come out to lay their eggs. A network of hiking and cycling trails crisscross the park, allowing visitors to explore the many natural attractions. Canoeing and kayaking area permitted, and camping and picnicking facilities are available, as well. 
Parc national de Plaisance is open from late May to mid-October. Admission is $3.50 for adults, $1.50 for children, and free for children under 5. Annual passes are also available.
